J Banks Collection for Kravet Contract

For its first-ever fabric collection, South Carolina-based J Banks Design Group collaborated with Kravet to create a line of performance fabrics that offer a residential style and feel. Tanzania presents modern interpretations of traditional African tribal designs through graphically stunning patterns and textures inspired by founder and president Joni Vanderslice's many trips to Afica. Since its inception in 1986, J Banks has grown into an internationally recognized design firm. One particularly impactful trip to Africa for Vanderslice led to the creation of the Valentine Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the orphans of Tanzania. On July 5, 2015, the Valentine Project opened the doors to its first orphanage in Dar es Salaam.

J Banks Collection

The J Banks Collection is a line of chic, transitional upholstery and casegood pieces designed by Joni and manufactured by Stanford Furniture and Abner Henry (Click on manufacturers to view collections) .  Joni’s inspiration for the pieces comes from her continuous travel to different regions for J Banks’ projects. Looking to fill a niche she felt was vacant, she created clean-lined, elegant furniture that can be utilized in both traditional and contemporary settings.  Combining distinctive shapes, fashion-forward lacquer finishes and luxurious textures, the furniture line is fit for any vernacular or design style, including coastal retreats, rustic mountain cabins, sleek So-Ho lofts, or even the most traditional of residences.   Combining over-sized structures with whimsical details and rich, vibrant finishes breaks the mold of conventional furniture design.
