Project Management

Our commercial department works within the realm of teamwork.  At the beginning of the project, the designer is assigned a design support group based on the scope of the specific project.  Each member of the support team will have a targeted role in the progression of the project.  Team allocations could include design support; finish schedules and documentation; interior millwork drawings and CAD operations; budget analysis; task delegation; pricing; and presentation and marketing support.  The team approach also ensures that there will always be a J Banks representative available to provide specific client support or assist with questions at any given moment.

After the team has been created, a weekly internal meeting occurs throughout the life of the project and all members of the design team are required to attend.  These meetings allow management to monitor all elements of the project ensuring that all expectations are met.  In addition, the communication that occurs during the meetings brings about proactive questions, concerns and comments that allow us to create a conflict free experience for our clients.

We have found that written, concise communication is another key element for project success.  For this reason, we create a weekly report for each of our projects and distribute the report to all parties involved including our client, architects, contractors, subcontractors, and any other pertinent team members.    The report documents meeting highlights, priorities, task lists, updates from the week, questions and any other issues pertaining to the project that needs to be addressed.  The report helps to clearly define responsibilities for each person involved, mitigating misunderstandings, miscommunication and finger pointing that commonly occurs during the process.
