The Tablescape Project

graphics 1

Last year, we took one sofa in our retail store and asked each of the J Banks Designers to style the sofa and surrounding space utilizing pillows, lamps and accessories.  Each Designer had the ability to create a space that not only showed their “of-the-moment” loves from our retail store, but also demonstrated how a design client can easily change a space by adding a few new elements.

This time, we will ask each Designer to style a tablescape on round, glass table from our retail store. We are giving them the freedom to create anything they want; from a table setting for entertaining to a beautiful design vignette-the sky is the limit!

Each week we will feature one Designer and showcase how they have chosen to style a table. The end result will show how accessories can change the overall ambiance of a room.

Sharon Cleland was the first Designer to tackle this project and you will see her creativity through a few Q&A’s on her selections and inspirations.

JB: What is your favorite item or items in the vignette/tablescape? Why?

Sharon: The cow hide used as a table covering. I love how it adds a bit of life to the vignette, while giving you a nice rich feeling to the table.

JB: Tell us a little bit about your color choices & where your inspiration came from.

Sharon: I love neutrals, silver and textures and since my trip to South Africa have been obsessed with animal skins which work superbly in both traditional and more contemporary vignettes.

JB: What advice can you give for your clients about dressing a table?

Sharon: In order to make a statement, go bold! Create varying heights, shapes and textures while at the same time creating continuity in finishes. In this case the silver, glass and horn.

We loved the chic and warm tablescape Sharon created!

Stay tuned for more tablescapes coming soon!
