ver the next few weeks are asking each of the J Banks Designers to style a tablescape on a round, glass table from our retail store. We have given them the freedom to create anything they want; from a table setting for entertaining to a beautiful design vignette – the sky is the limit! The end result will show how thoughtful accessories and attention to detail can change the overall ambiance of a room.
Last week we featured Designer, Kelly Caron and her New Year inspired vignette. Week no. 4 features, Designer Deb Van Plew and her Lowcountry inspired creation!
JB: What is your favorite item or items in the vignette/tablescape? Why?
Deb: For the holidays, a little sparkle is always festive, so the antique mirror balls and globe lights give just the right amount of glow.
JB: Tell us a little bit about your color choices & how you were inspired.
Deb: Nature is always my biggest inspiration; whether in color, texture, form or composition. Because it is the holidays, I chose classic greens for the arrangement; pine, cedar, magnolia and fire thorn branches with their gorgeous red berries. The decorative accents, such as the burlap bow, layered table covering and rustic wooden serving board, add texture and interest to compliment the overall look. This is a snapshot of a Lowcountry Christmas to me.
JB: What advice can you give for your clients about dressing a table?
Deb: I like to tell a visual story; it is an ensemble cast of individual elements brought together to create a moment – to suspend reality. My advice . . . be fearless, choose things you love, there are no ‘wrong’ answers, scale is everything, and have fun with it!
We loved the ‘Lowcountry Christmas’ inspired tablescape Deb created! What a perfect entry table Holiday display!
Stay tuned for more tablescapes coming soon!
