Designer Tablescape: Shelley Wilkins

Over the next few weeks we are asking each of the J Banks Designers to style a tablescape on a round, glass table from our retail store. We have given them the freedom to create anything they want; from a table setting for entertaining to a beautiful design vignette – the sky is the limit!  The end result will show how thoughtful accessories and attention to detail can change the overall ambiance of a room.

Last week we featured Designer, Adrienne Warner and her colorful, coastal inspired table. This week, we are featuring Designer, Shelley Wilkin’s Valentine’s themed table. Enjoy!

JB: What is your favorite item or items in the vignette/tablescape? Why?

Shelley: There are so many great pieces on the table but I think my favorite is the chevron table runner by Kitchen Papers, sold in J Banks Retail.  When they arrived into our store I bought it immediately! I have used it for Easter brunch, Christmas dinner, and even as wrapping paper. It is so versatile and makes such a great impact for such a small price. Also, the Eiffel Tower place card holders from Homart are so great. J’adore!

JB: Tell us a little bit about your color choices & how you were inspired.

Shelley: I was inspired by the upcoming Valentine’s holiday! It is my favorite day of the year. I thought it would be fun to put together a table mixing reds and pinks. I think many people do not think they can mix the two colors together, but with a white tablecloth as the backdrop, the varying hues make the table fun and festive!

JBWhat advice can you give for your clients about dressing a table?

Shelley: I would tell my clients….do not be afraid to have fun with setting the table. Think out of the box…there are no rules. I used candy hearts as a centerpiece-fun whimsical and unexpected! Delight your guests with those special little touches. Have fun and enjoy it!

We loved the vibrant, yet romantic ambiance that Shelley created for her tablescape!

Stay tuned for more tablescapes coming soon!
