J Banks Design has some exciting news!   In addition to our upholstery line with Stanford Furniture, we have now have partnered with Abner Henry Fine Furniture to manufacture our J Banks Collection of casegood pieces! Abner Henry Fine Furniture was launched in August of 2007 with a simple vision; to provide furniture built with old world hand craftsmanship using new world technology. Based in Ohio, their focus is on providing heirloom quality furniture with unlimited custom capabilities. Joni recently visited the Abner Henry factory  and was so blown away by the entire experience that we wanted to give you a little peek inside….

JB: Tell me a little bit about the company and the way they work.

JONI: They are an Amish company.  The owner started in the custom cabinet business.  Everything they make is of incredibly high quality and well made.

These slabs of wood are for tabletops…with “live edges” and come in many sizes and finishes!

JB: What was the most shocking and/or impressive thing you discovered about their lifestyle or the way they work?

JONI: I admire their lifestyle and non judgmental attitude toward others.  Their factory and finishing is state of the art.  They use small businesses so that they can use the best craftsmen for all areas of their work and their entire operation is green.

JB: What are you most excited about with this collection?

JONI: The finishes!  They are amazing. AND the fact that we will have furniture that is made in America!

JB: Since customizing pieces is their specialty, what all goes into the process of customizing a piece?

JONI: Customizing is not a problem for them.  Their custom pieces are integrated into their process with ease.  They can change the width and length of any piece easily or you can ask for adjustments, such as a new drawer detail, changing a drawer to a door, hardware, etc. or you can design something totally new.

This picture is taken of a cabinet they custom made for a client. It really shows off their craftsmanship and attention to detail.

We cannot wait to share all of our new introductions and designs at the Fall 2014 High Point Furniture Market!  If you are attending Market, please make sure to visit the NEW Stanford Furniture showroom located at the corner of Richardson and North Hamilton where you can view the entire J Banks Collection!

JB
