John’s Island Club: Last Phase of Design Completed

John’s Island Club is a private, member-owned club located in the John’s Island community of Vero Beach, Florida. Nestled between three miles of sandy beaches along the Atlantic Ocean and the Indian River, the club provides first-class facilities and services to its members and their guests.

Our team at J. Banks Design Group recently completed our fourth project at John’s Island – a total renovation of John’s Island Club. The redesign integrated the best of the original Georgian traditional architectural details, adding in contemporary elements to give the club a fresh, modernized look. The outdoor living and dining spaces were expanded with the addition of two terraces that incorporate NanaWalls, a folding glass wall system that allowed us to blur the line between outdoors and in. Louvered pergolas were also added, enabling the outdoor areas to be used in inclement weather. A wine bar and casual dining venue were introduced as well, creating a more casual atmosphere for members.

We worked with project architect Peacock and Lewis to ensure that the interiors and the architecture related seamlessly. As with all of our clubhouse and resort projects, we took the spirit of the community to heart, balancing the dominance of sporting activities with the desire for an elevated, sophisticated aesthetic.

The developers describe the community as such: “An active lifestyle is at the heart of the John’s Island Club experience. Whether playing golf on one of three magnificently-designed golf courses, returning volleys on the tennis courts, smashing a serve on one of two squash courts, strategizing your next move on one of two croquet courts, or working up a sweat in the state-of-the-art Fitness Center, John’s Island Club offers some of the highest-quality recreational facilities in the country. For water enthusiasts, an inviting pool overlooks the Atlantic Ocean and is perfect for swimming laps, playing Marco Polo with the kids, or simply cooling off from the warm Florida sun. An adjacent kiddie pool – with playful sprinklers – keeps the little ones entertained.”
