Joni Burden founded her interior design firm in 1986, growing it into the internationally recognized, Hilton Head Island-based J. Banks Design. Known for "luxury without pretense," the firm blends resort living with residential style across a global portfolio. Joni serves on the National ASID Board of Directors, the High Point Market Authority Board of Directors, and on the Board of Gabriella White.

Under Joni’s direction, J. Banks Design has earned major accolades, including multiple ADAC Designer of the Year honors, ASID awards, and a Gold Key Award for its work at Castello di Casole in Tuscany. The firm is regularly ranked among Interior Design magazine’s Top 100 Design Giants and Top 75 Hospitality Giants, with a team of 50 associates working in over 17 states and 4 countries.

Joni’s designs have been featured in many publications, including Veranda, Elle Décor, Traditional Home, Southern Living, Robb Report, and Hospitality Design. Her love of travel inspires her product lines with Holland and Sherry, Kravet Inc., Gabby, New Ravenna, and others.

Beyond design, Joni is passionate about family and philanthropy, most notably through the Valentine Project, supporting orphans in Tanzania. Joni and her husband David split their time between Hilton Head Island and Cashiers, NC.
