The inspiration for the J. Banks Collection’s textiles for Kravet stems from trips the designer Joni Vanderslice has taken to Africa. The collection was drawn directly from the landscape, its people, its handcrafts and its flora and fauna. The rich colors and patterns in this African beadwork are reflective of the flavors of the continent. The luscious hues of this African beadwork will be recognizable in textiles and trims that express the ethnically rich patterns seen during trips across the African continent.

The Tanzania collection of fabrics by Joni Vanderslice for her J. Banks Collection for Kravet was inspired by ethnically diverse Africa. J. Banks Design collaborated with Kravet to create Tanzania, a line of ethnically inspired performance fabrics and trims envisioned during Joni Vanderslice’s many trips to Africa. The graphically stunning patterns and textures emulate traditional African tribal designs, beautifully mimicking Kente clothes from Ghana, wood carvings from Zanzibar and the colors of the Serengeti Desert. The designs and textures seamlessly translate to both hospitality and residential applications, further reflecting the firm’s design philosophy of home is resort and resort is home.

Kravet has committed to donating a portion of the proceeds from the Tanzania Collection to The Valentine Project, which was founded by the Vanderslice family.
