Moreland Village at Palmetto Bluff

Moreland Village is the newest village of Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, South Carolina, which opened last fall. It acts as the social hub. offering entertainment, activities and gathering spots where both homeowners and resort guests can enjoy authentic, sophisticated Lowcountry living.

The architecture and design not only celebrate the landscape, but also the true spirit of Palmetto Bluff and its surrounding Lowcountry scene. Our interiors incorporate a new vernacular for Palmetto Bluff, embracing its natural elements in the form of tabby, reclaimed wood, and custom designed furnishings. The end result is casual, sophisticated, timeless, and organic, allowing the interiors to unite with nature rather than compete for attention. We are thrilled to share that Moreland Village at Palmetto Bluff was a 2017 Gold Key Award finalist.

The J. Banks Design Group worked with project architects Lake Flato and 4240 Architecture to ensure that the personality of the interiors and the architecture were perfectly in sync. As with all of our clubhouse projects, the sense of place was a key factor throughout the entire design process.

The bowling alley floor system was designed to transform into banquet space and a custom sectional added provides both deluxe seating and shoe storage. The Conservancy space was designed so it can be transformed from a panoramic water view room to an educational classroom with the touch of a button, lowering blackout shades and media screen. In the spirit of bringing the outdoors in, traditionally poured oyster tabby stucco was specified for both interior and exterior walls.

Set in a place where marsh and waterway meet to create a distinctive natural environment, Moreland Village at Palmetto Bluff makes the perfect home base for exploring the Lowcountry. Trails connect the community and lead to convenient amenities as well as gathering spaces in the woods and along the water. What better way to end a day of hiking, kayaking and fishing than with a Lowcountry boil under the stars?
