Embassy Suites by Hilton St. Augustine – Official Ribbon Cutting

The official ribbon cutting ceremony for the Embassy Suites by Hilton, St. Augustine’s only beachfront resort, took place on January 17, 2019 and we were lucky to be on hand to celebrate.  Developed by Miami-based Key International, the Embassy Suites by Hilton St. Augustine Beach is the only luxury resort on the city’s ocean shore, and one of only five beachfront properties with a resort designation under the Embassy Suites by Hilton flag.  J. Banks Design Group was engaged to complete the interiors, including 175 guest rooms, 25,000 square feet of meeting space and two restaurants.

“Our approach was to give this family-friendly branded hotel property the feel of a boutique destination hotel” said, Joni Vanderslice, President of J. Banks Design Group.  “We envisioned spaces of relaxed luxury that seamlessly blend into the beach and ocean beyond its doors”.

The beach and ocean beyond are focal point from the many vantage points on the property. The Resort’s location next to Anastasia State Park will prevent development just north of the hotel, preserving views of the beach from the lobby, outdoor terrace and ballroom windows. With this in mind, the design team used neutral and natural materials such as stone, driftwood and soft metals throughout the spaces.  In the 5,200 sq. foot Ballroom, we wanted to create a functional and elegant event space, placing the light fixtures high so as not to obstruct the view and to conceal speakers in the ceiling. The elegant finishes used throughout reflect the beach outside, including contemporary brass lights and original driftwood sculptures in the lobby and Harvest & Reel, the resorts signature farm-to-table restaurant.
