Timbers Kiawah Ocean Club & Residences Opening

Timbers Kiawah Ocean Club & Residences recently celebrated its grand opening and J. Banks Design Group President Joni Vanderslice, along with team-members Laura Page Bischofberger, Blake Pettit and Victoria King, attended the ribbon cutting ceremony.  As Interior Designers on the project, J. Banks Design Group wanted to create a new design vernacular that adds a contemporary twist to the traditional beach resort. The whimsical blue front door invites you in to escape your busy everyday life. You hear the call of the ocean waves. Expansive windows and doors lead to spacious decks, welcoming family and friends to relax, reconnect, and spend time together while breathing in the fresh salt air.

Bathed in subtle hues and textures, thoughtful in every detail, each home conveys the relaxed spirit of Kiawah Island.  The residences live in complete harmony with the landscape and seascape. The panoramic views are made even more dramatic by the open living spaces and spacious verandas. The interiors are elegantly casual, using a mix of materials and finishes accented with locally sourced art. The interior color palette – blues, sand, driftwood – blends into the breathtaking views, blurring the lines between inside and out.

The Timbers Kiawah Ocean Club clubhouse is anchored by a J. Banks-designed sculptural tabby fireplace layered with driftwood.  Tabby, a mixture of sand, lime, water and oyster shells, has been used as a building material in the South Carolina Lowcountry for generations.  Natural, local materials have proven to be sustainable and resilient and have defined what the Lowcountry means to those who call it home and to visitors alike. Tabby gives a nod to the past and illustrates how the land and the sea provides for its people. Reclaimed oak floors add warmth and character to the clubhouse, while the interior color palette in tones of blue and neutrals relates back to the ocean outside. A navy lacquered wine wall cabinet with brass accents offers a sophisticated nautical vibe and layers of pattern.

J. Banks Design Group has been the interior design firm for Timbers Resorts since their first property, this latest project joining Timbers Club in Snowmass, CO.  Other Timbers Projects include Esperanza, Castello di Casole, Sebastian, and One Steamboat Place in the firm’s portfolio.
